Altair is pleased to announce the availability of Inspire Extrude (ex Click2Extrude) 2018.2, consisting of Inspire Extrude Metal and Inspire Extrude Polymer as the next generation environment of the industry leading HyperXtrude suite.

Click2Extrude was renamed Inspire Extrude for the 2018.2 release.

Inspire Extrude 2018.2 includes the following new features and enhancements


New Features: General
- Rebranding of the User Interface
In this release, the name Click2Extrude was changed to Inspire Extrude. This change is to unify all manufacturing products built on the Inspire platform. Inspire Extrude will continue to be powered by the HyperXtrude Solver. This rebranding does not remove any any existing features, and, in addition, new features are added.
- Post Processing of BC Parts
Inspire Extrude now supports 2D BC parts present in the results file. This enables viewing the results on BC parts or on displayed parts.
- Checks for Data Errors
Additional checks have been added in the export to catch and inform the user about any model setup and boundary condition issues.
New Features: Polymer Extrusion
- New Workflow for Model Setup
The polymer model setup workflow has been re-organized. Now, the interface guides the user through the setup of any complex model with ease in just a few clicks.

Improvements in each of the steps are listed below.
- Layer Organization
. Automatic Layer Organization
Layer Organization is now a separate tool. Layers are automatically organized based on the selected inlet conditions and connectivity of the parts. This major enhancement greatly simplifies the model setup of co-extruded polymers.
. Legend for Polymer Layers
The legend represents the parts that are grouped into layers. Additional controls have been added in the legend for better visualization. Any necessary correction to the model or re-organizing can be done with ease and is less error prone.
- Land Organization
The land organization step is now more intuitive and has been simplified in this release. There is a cutting plane preview on selection of the parting line and land solids. It also allows the user to flip the cutting plane on any global axis and verifies the cutting plane before performing the cut operation.
- Automatic Exit BC Creation
Exit BCs are created automatically when the profile solid is created. This avoids the extra step that was needed to manually create it for each profile.
- Improvements in Export
Export automatically renames parts with spaces and special characters. This reduces the burden on the user to manually correct the part names before export.
- Improvement in BC Selection
The polymer BC surface is now highlighted when selecting/editing the BCs. This gives more clarity to user about the respective BC face while editing.
New Features: Tool Deflection
- Temperature Dependent Tool Material Properties
The Material Database has been enhanced to include the temperature-dependent properties for tool materials. The stress/strain curves for each temperature are plotted in the user interface for better visualization.
- Additional Properties for Tool Materials
Tool materials now include additional properties such as the coefficient of thermal expansion and reference temperature.
Resolved Issues
- Improvements to Run History Management
Issues in the run history path while launching the application have been resolved. Issues related to run status clean up have been resolved.
- Window Selection
The issue in selecting displayed parts via window in the graphics area is resolved in this release.

- Improvements to Bearing Creation
Added checks to validate the input surface selected by the user for creating bearing and profile parts. Improved the estimation of the bearing solid length based on the maximum bearing length at the time of creation.
- Tool Materials for Coupled Analysis
Inspire Extrude supports the assignment of different tool materials for the tool assembly while performing coupled analysis.
- Existing Mesh for Coupled Analysis
Existing mesh for coupled analysis models is now supported in this release.

New Features: Quenching
- Model Orientation
Automatic model orientation has been implemented by considering the normal of the profile exit surface. Any arbitrary orientations or positions are now handled more accurately to orient the model in the extrusion direction.
- Quench System Support
A manually edited/created quench system data file can now be imported into Inspire Extrude and used in the simulation. It can also be added to the quench system database.
Resolved Issues
- Improvements to Run History Management
Issues in the run history path while launching the application have been resolved. Issues related to run status clean up have been resolved.
