Now well into his eighth decade, Duane Eddy is still on the road and continues to make records with a new generation of players; these include Richard Hawley, who produced the 'Road Trip' album for him in 2011, the same year he played Glastonbury. Enjoy this unique individual back in his heyday with this 3CD set, and, as the opening track so eloquently puts it, dance with the guitar man!
It has to have 5 stars. The price is so good I wondered what the quality would be like and would they be "Original" recordings. I am happy to say this is a must for Eddy fans, and yes, as far as I can tell they are the Original recordings. Yes, you will have most if not all of the tracks (I am a huge fan and have I thought all of his recordings, but some here I don't know), but, in a wonderful 3 CD collection you can't go wrong. Great quality and a now treasured addition to my collection (along with Johnny and the Hurricanes). Highly recomended.

Seems like I contributed to Eddy's early UK chart success by buying several of his releases, even one or two back catalogue titles. My overall favourite was "Ramrod", probably because he used ALL the strings on his Gretch, not just the 'bottom' ones.

Here's 75 tracks, A's, B's and LP cuts, '58 to early 60's, including his debut album "Have Twangy Guitar Will Travel" in full, but scattered about. I much prefer this style of compilation, as a less than dedicated Duane Eddy fan, allows me to FF stuff that doesn't grab my ear. It's not 100% twangsville, there's some banjo bashing and acoustic stuff, tho I nodded off during "Scarlet Ribbons". Bit of bluesy stuff - the rather fine "Three 30 Blues" - and lots of bouncy, pop r&r. And let's not forget the searing sax men, Gil Bernal, Steve Douglas and Jim Horn more than fill the bill. Not a bad set, a good intro to Duane Eddy, would you need more? Good enough notes from Nigel Cross, I learned something. And how many of you bought his "Peter Gunn" with Art Of Noise, back in 1986, a Top 10 hit? (And for those who need it, you can subscribe to 'Twangsville', the regular publication of the Duane Eddy Circle, on www.duaneddycircle.com - tell 'em I sent you).
