Rachelle Coba mastered the finger-picking techniques of classical guitar while earning a Bachelor of Music degree at the University of Miami. She then chose to apply that facility to electric guitar and began playing the blues. Consequently, Rachelle has developed her own, unique approach to blues guitar lead and rhythm playing.
Rachelle's new style and musicianship brought her to the attention of notable blues circuit artists, and resulted in extended national engagements with Grady Champion, Junior Drinkwater, Super Chikan, and Ray Drew. Additionally, she has toured as an opener for blues/rock legend Johnny Winter and Coco Montoya. She has also played the blues and opened for countless artists including A.C. Reed, Buddy Guy, Junior Wells, and Dr. John. Rachelle has appeared at the Chicago Blues Festival; BB King's and The Bottom Line in NYC; The Roxy in LA; The Fillmore in Denver; The Sound Advice Blues Festival; Kerrville Folk Festival; and numerous House Of Blues venues. (Rachelle also performed her 'blues' arrangement of the National Anthem at a Miami Heat basketball game!)
Currently, Rachelle resides in Wichita, KS, where she continues to perform. She has developed a strong blues solo act and formed her own Rachelle Coba Band.
In addition to playing, Rachelle has kept up her impressive career as a guitar instructor. Not only did she coach a long list of private students while in Miami, Chicago and Wichita, but has taught for the last three years at Wichita's renowned Camp Allegro. She preceded this as an instructor for the National Guitar Workshops 'DayJams' camp in the Washington D.C. area. She is currently taking the lead with Arts Partners and the Wichita Blues Society to bring a 'Blues In The Schools' program to the Wichita area.
